Students get the low down on Geology career options

Last Friday, students from the 5th Year and Sixth Form were invited to another business lunch, this time centred on Engineering and Geology.

We were lucky enough to be joined by a range of visitors; John Williams, Design Manager at Nomenca and former pupil (CO95), Dr Andy Wetherelt from Camborne School of Mines and a Mining Engineer graduate, Alex Young, also a former pupil (CO13).

As usual it was a well-attended guest talk, and the visitors offered a wealth of advice on A Level combinations for Engineering degrees, work experience and internship tips. Students were able to get a real insight into the possibilities of a career and future education from professionals in the field, and were talked through the relative pros and cons of the different Mining, Geology and Engineering degrees available.

Head of Careers, Nancy Kenward, who organises these events says she was very grateful that the visitors were able to give up their time and make it such a worthwhile event for students who are in the process of deciding on their next steps, be it in education or careers.
