Students celebrate an excellent set of A-Level results

Students at Truro School have been celebrating an excellent set of A-Level results.

Nearly half of all grades (45%*) achieved the top level A*/A results, against a national decline to 25.5%. In addition, 70% of all Truro School A-Levels were graded at A*-B and over one quarter of all students achieved 3 A grades or better. Furthermore, 84% of students had secured places at their firm or insurance choice universities with this number expected to grow throughout the day.

Truro School’s Headmaster, Andrew Gordon-Brown, said: “I am very proud of our hardworking students, who with guidance and support from our dedicated teachers, have achieved such fantastic results. I am overjoyed that so many students achieved top grades and that their commitment has secured them places at their chosen universities. Equally there are some real triumphs for students who achieved three very good A-Levels where more modest grades were expected.”

Performance was strong across all subjects: once again our creative and performing arts students have put in terrific performances with Design Technology, Music and Drama all achieving 100% A*-B grades. The humanities picture is also impressive with Geography, History, Economics, Psychology and Geology all scoring between 80% and 100% A*-B. Once again the results of the Extended Project Qualification are exceptional with 73% of candidates scoring either an A* or A.

Mr Gordon-Brown continued, “Here at Truro School, we believe that, whilst our excellent examination results and university outcomes speak for themselves, they should only be the culmination of a memorable two years that help our students to develop as well-rounded individuals.

“It is a remarkable reflection on the students to think of everything that they have also achieved alongside these results; outstanding music and drama productions, regional and national-level sports achievements, incredible outdoor pursuits accomplishments, and an ongoing dedication to the committees and community projects that they have been involved in, to name but a few.

“The combination of these strong results and the personal qualities that the students have developed over their time at Truro School ensures a bright future awaits.

“We wish the class of 19 the very best for their next chapter and look forward to seeing them at upcoming Truro School Connected events.”
