Regional Badminton Finals 2019

On 12 March, four badminton teams from Truro School represented Cornwall in the Regional Finals of the National Schools Badminton Championships at Torbay Leisure Centre, the only school to have teams in all four categories.

The KS3 Girls, Joanna, Maya, Marlee, Evie and Isha, won their competition, dropping only one game during the day. They will now represent the south west at the National Finals on 5 May at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes.

The KS4 Girls, Beckie, Nila, Lizzie and Harriet won silver medals, losing only one match, 2-3 to the eventual winners Chulmleigh.

The KS4 Boys, Alex, Ashay, Jack, James and Jason came fourth, whilst the KS3 Boys, Ollie, Ashley, Max and Roland came fifth.

The pupils from Truro School, and from all of the other schools present, were great ambassadors for their schools and the competition was played in a great spirit. Thank you to Roy Carder, who did an excellent job as SW Regional Referee on behalf of Badminton England.
