Prep success at Cornwall Junior Chess Championships

The Cornwall Junior Chess Championships were held at Penair School on Saturday 3rd December 2016.

Leading the Prep squad was Adam Hussain winning the Cornwall Under 12 Championship with 5.5 out of 6 to add to his Under 14 Title.

We had six entries in a very competitive Under 10 Section. Charlie Sexton finished 2nd with 4.5 and played well as suits an ex-Under 8 Champion!

Myla Hussain received a medal as the highest placed girl and equal 3rd with William Wang, Jonathan Taylor and Jack Chen all on 4/6. Miles Townsend won two games in his first competition for the Prep.

Inigo Quaife showed how much he’s improving as runner up in the Under 8 Championship. The Prep also won the Cornwall Schools Team prize awarded for the best four player total with a first, two seconds and the joint thirds we scored a resounding 18 out of a possible 24.

Congratulations to all eight for representing Truro School so effectively and thanks to the parents who came to support them all.

My D of E assistant Zac Berger has been helping to train our leading players at the Prep and must take some of the credit.
