Pre-Prep Head's Blog: 'Spring Fever in the Pre-Prep'

I don’t know about anybody else but the summer term has always been one of my favourite times of the year and what an exciting first week back in the Pre-Prep we have had. The Pre-Prep is looking just stunning, with the blossom and spring flowers at their very best and the children (and staff) have all come back completely refreshed from their holiday and full of the joys of spring.

The children in Year One launched the start of the new term with a spectacular spring bonnet parade around the school.

Bob the dog, Ben the tortoise and some very hungry caterpillars have all visited this week and are helping us to explore the themes of life cycles, caring for others and the world around us.

Year Two have been hard at work designing and creating spring themed gardens and have also produced some stunning observational drawings of spring flowers this week. Do take a moment to look at their gardens, each and everyone are so different but all show so much thought and care.

The Nursery children have been busy looking for signs of spring and enjoying the many aspects of the spring weather this week, including sunshine and hail! They have been finding out about caterpillars and what they need to grow and they also managed to fit in their first experience of using the running track and the sports field. We have some very determined young athletes in the making and I am really looking forward to Sports Day later this term.

Reception has thoroughly enjoyed working out how our new pulley system works down in The Enchanted Garden. They discovered that teamwork and co-operation are essential components to help them successfully problem solve.

Most of all we have all loved the sunny days this week and finally being able to play out on the grass without our wellington boots on.
