Children in Year 3 at the Prep School have the opportunity to have a go at pool kayaking in our swimming pool and to learn how to paddle. This is not only a whole lot of fun and an exciting way to practice water activities, but it also builds their confidence in the water.
Once they’re feeling confident, Year 4 pupils travel to Stithians Lake for Junior Activities on Monday afternoons, in the Autumn and Summer Terms. At Stithians Lake they learn basic sailing and kayaking skills, and further build on the skills and confidence they developed in the pool. They make use of the school’s fleet of Pico Sailing dinghies and kayaks.
The adventure continues in Years 5 and 6, when children experience some short expeditions at Stithains Lake or on the river.
