The new school year has been off to a fantastic start for all the girls of Pentreve House. They are settling nicely into their tutor groups, making new friends and becoming valued members of the broader school community.
It’s been a busy time, and not only in the classroom. As well as their studies, the girls have enjoyed a wide range of extracurricular activities including badminton, squash, table tennis, basketball and numerous trips to the gym. At times it seems like they only have time to touch base to deliver a speedy ‘hello’ before they are saying ‘goodbye’ again and whizzing off to the next thing. I can’t believe the energy of these girls, it’s really impressive.
With the first three days of school done, you might have expected the girls to be exhausted. But, no. Saturday morning they were up at 7.15 getting ready for a full day of adventure at Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre for some team building activities including climbing, coasteering, kayaking, caving and paddle boarding. However, this morning was not a regular wakeup call, the girls woke to the sounds of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Happy Birthday to you!’ blaring through the house because today we celebrated Pentreve’s first birthday with Mariia’s 14th. Cake, cards, singing and balloons preceded breakfast, after which they joined the other houses and boarded the minibuses to go off to Porthpean.
Saturday evening saw many worn out, but happy girls. It was time to chill. The girls chose to watch a film together, relaxing in the common room and enjoying a range of snacks.
A well-deserved lie-in was had by all the girls on Sunday morning. We stayed close to home today and enjoyed a more relaxed time. Most girls took themselves off into Truro to enjoy the shops and to keep the celebration of Mariia’s birthday going with a visit to Starbucks.
The weekend came to a close and we prepared ourselves so that we were ready for the start of the new week. Prep is being finished, rooms are being tidied, bags are being packed, uniform is being laid out. It has been an amazing week, it is hard to know how it could get any better. But, something tells me there is much, much more to come…
