Junior Girl’s Boarding Blog: 25 June

So with less than two weeks to go before the end of the school year we finally have blazing sunshine in Cornwall, and now that school exams are finished we also have the time to enjoy it!

It’s been another busy week for the girls.  On Thursday evening Freya and Olivia performed in the First Year Gala Concert.  Then on Friday, on what seemed like the hottest day of the year so far, Amy and Emma went off to The Lizard to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award Expedition – walking 30 miles across country and camping out overnight.  They came back exhausted, but proud of their achievement (and with some interesting bits of suntan) on Saturday evening.

On Sunday the girls lost their precious lie-in as they got to experience first had life as a television extra!  Rosumund Pilcher’s novels set in Cornwall are highly popular in Germany and a German tv company are over here, making an adaptation of another of the books.  They were filming here at school on Sunday, and the boarders were asked if they would like to be extras in the production.  Fortunately for all concerned, they had to play school children!

Interspersed with the filming, Amy, Freya, Nana and Ellie also had final rehearsals from the Junior play “Gulliver’s Travels” which the rest of us are looking forward to coming to see this week.  We also have Sports Day on Thursday in what promises to be a hot and sunny day!  Then next weekend we are finishing off the term in style with a trip to Retallack Water Park for some fun on their large inflatables.

Best wishes,

Miss Broadhurst
