Junior Girls’ Boarding Blog: 12 March

Well, after the fun of the snow and a couple of days with no lessons it has been straight back into the thick of things this week!

Nana and Freya have all been successful in getting parts for next year’s school musical, ‘West Side Story,’ and Amy is going to be a co-director!

This week was the second year’ Shakespeare Festival, in which each form performed and abridged version of one of the plays.  Alex and Cerys are both in the same form, and performed as Helena and the narrator respectively in ‘A Midsummers Night’s Dream.’  Miss Hope and the rest of the house went along to watch/ support on Thursday evening and came back full of praise for Alex and Cerys.

Katie has had a really busy week, not only with cathedral commitments but as a member of the school’s Jazz Orchestra who provided the music for the Duchy Ballet’s performances of ‘The Nutcracker’ at the Hall for Cornwall.  She seems to have practically lived there!  The performances went extremely well and Katie says she managed to hit the difficult high notes each night.

The weekend started quietly, with Emma and Amy both invited out to friends’ houses and Freya and Ellie spending time with their families, but by Sunday, most of the house were back and ready to go paintballing with Poltisco!  Needless to say there are, apparently, some interesting bruises but the girls really enjoyed themselves.  Some may have run out of ammo more quickly than others but there were some brave individual efforts from Stephanie and Emma to capture the “bombs” which were the aim of the game.
