Junior Boys’ Boarding Blog: 28 April 2019

Poltisco Blog 28 April 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

For those that are new to the house – welcome to the weekly boarders’ blog; outlining all the interesting things that the boys have got up to over the past week.

For everyone else’s information, we welcome 3 new boys into the house this term: Seva joins us in the 1st Year, from Russia, whilst Adrian and Mathis join us in the 3rd Year, from France and Germany respectively. They are settling in well, and the existing boys are doing all they can to make them feel welcome. It has particularly nice to have such a full house for the weekend – it has helped to make it very sociable.

Our first activity of this term looked to make the most of Cornwall in its best season – Summer. Although the weather was not as glorious as we might yet hope, we were fortunate to avoid the rain on our trip out to Porthleven, a picturesque fishing village on the south coast. We were treated to spectacular views down the coast, and our visit coincided with Porthleven’s annual Food Festival, featuring countless food and drink stalls, scattered all around the old town, for the boys to explore, whilst being entertained by street musicians.

After getting back well-nourished from the festival, the boys decided to go as a group to see the movie spectacular of the year Avengers: End Game – they have been extremely excited about this all weekend. In order to prepare for this, the boys spent Saturday afternoon together in the common room, re-watching the previous Avengers film, in order to be up to date with the story. After this and dinner, we all walked down to the Domino’s conveniently located by school to order some pizzas for the evening. If you look closely, you can see Peter hiding behind the glass (the sun was setting on a beautiful day at this point, and it was getting slightly chilly).

I look forward to avoiding spoilers with them later as we complete any outstanding prep and pack our bags ready for tomorrow.

With kind regards,

Mr P J Thomson
