Junior Boys’ Boarding Blog: 10 September

It has been just over a week since the start of the new boarders’ induction. It is fair to say that the Poltisco boys have settled in are are gelling very well.

All of the boys are getting on with each other and I am really pleased that the games room is being well used. Another popular choice has been the SBA sports centre, with the boys using the fitness suite and playing basketball.

This weekend Henry and Amari have been to Nottingham to compete in a ‘Cadet’ fencing competition. The boys were both well placed and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. Back at school I took the remaining boys to watch some senior rugby as the 1st XV took on the former pupils. For some, this was their first ever rugby game. It was a close game with the former pupils winning 12-3. It was enjoyed by all.

On Saturday evening there was the traditional movie and pizza night. The film of choice this week was ‘Battleships’. The boys had great fun and this was a popular choice.

The Sunday outing was a surfing lesson at Perranporth beach. We are so lucky that in Cornwall we have many outstanding beaches that we can visit. As you can see from the photographs the boys had a fantastic time. There is an option for the boys to make this a regular trip with the ‘Boarders’ surf club. This runs each week using the same surf school.

On returning from the beach the boys had a short time before a traditional English roast dinner with all the trimmings. The boys are back in the house getting ready for school and making the most of the opportunity to tidy their rooms.
