Transport

From September 2023, we will be providing four bus routes, bringing pupils from the following areas:

Wadebridge, Retallack and St Columb Major
Rosudgeon, Helston and Rame
Newquay, Perranporth, St Agnes and Chiverton Cross
St Erth, Hayle and Camborne

In the morning, we operate shuttle services between Truro School and Truro School Prep and Truro School Prep to Truro School. In the afternoons, the shuttle service only runs from Truro School Prep to Truro School.

Transport Bookings Spring and Summer Terms 2024

Termly and ad-hoc bookings for the Spring and Summer terms can be made via our new specialist school transport management system ‘Vectare’. When setting up your Vectare account please ensure you use the email address you used for the Truro School Fee Billing Portal – this will ensure that your child’s details are transferred across to the Vectare system.  You will need to set up a new password on Vectare.

Termly bookings will be payable via direct debit. Ad hoc bookings will be payable by credit/debit card.

Truro Railway Station

Truro Railway Station is the closest station to the school and is served by regular trains from across the network. National Rail offer a range of reduced tickets for children travelling, including the 16-17 Saver, details of which can be found here:

Bus Service from Truro Railway Station to Truro School

First Bus/Truronian provide the bus service to and from Truro Railway Station at the beginning and end of each school day.

In the morning the bus departs from outside the railway station (see link below) and drops off at the railings on St Clements Hill by the footpath leading up to the Music Department and Wilkes/Burrell. In the afternoon it is the reverse. There are two ‘runs’ in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Ticketing Arrangements

Single/return tickets can be bought on the bus, £2 single, £3 return.

From Monday 5 September, weekly tickets can be bought on the bus, or in advance on the First Bus Ticket app or via https://www.firstbus.co.uk/cornwall  (Truro School is under Journey Planner), these are £13.

They will be clearly identified for Truro School. No other tickets are valid. Payment on the bus can be with cash or by card.

Park and Ride

A number of pupils access Truro School by using the Park and Ride Services. The Park for Truro collection points can be found at both Langarth and Tregurra. Both of these services terminate at Truro bus stop, from here is less than a 5 minute walk to the School. These services run every 10 to 15 minutes.

Vectare FAQs

You can download a guide for setting up your account at the top of the page – important – you will need to use the same email address as you used when setting up your Truro School Fee Billing Portal (you will need to set up a new password for Vectare).  By using the same email address your child’s details will be automatically transferred across to the Vectare system. I already booked last year for this academic year, do I need to rebook the seats for the Spring and Summer terms?
Yes, unfortunately we cannot do this on your behalf.

How do I pay for Vectare bookings?
All payments are made via Vectare.

Termly bookings can only be made by direct debit payment.  The payment for Spring bookings will be taken by direct debit on 2nd January and Summer bookings on 1st April 2024.
Ad-hoc bookings are card payment at time of booking.

What is a termly booking and what is an ad-hoc booking?
A termly booking is Monday-Friday all term either AM or PM or Return
An ad-hoc booking is any booking which isn’t Monday-Friday for the whole term.

Can I make multiple ad-hoc bookings?
Yes, you can book a full-term ad-hoc bookings in advance.

Can my child travel on the bus if I haven’t made a booking?
No.  The system is live and you can book up to 1 hour before the time of travel.  If your child is not on the drivers’ online register they will not be able to travel and you will need to make alternative arrangements for them.

Can I email [email protected] to make a booking?
No. All bookings will be through Vectare and we cannot make bookings on your behalf.  Vectare contact details are shown below.

Are the bus collection and drop off times the same for the Spring and Summer term as the Autumn Term?
Yes, except for the Rosudgeon route.  From January, please see the new times below:

Rosudgeon 7.05am; Helston 7.25am; Rame 7.40am; Penryn Campus 7.50am

There will no longer be a stop in Porthleven.

 

My child is at Truro Prep School and catches the St Erth Prep transport in the morning – there isn’t an option showing for a return journey on the booking site?
You will need to book the St Erth prep route for the AM and the St Erth Senior for the PM.  A shuttle bus will collect them from TPS and bring them to the senior school for the bus home.

My child is at Truro School Prep – I am booking the school bus, do I need to book any additional shuttle buses?
For AM bookings, no – please see below, you do not need to make any additional bookings for the shuttle bus.
For PM and return bookings, yes – you will need to request a discount code from the school [email protected] before booking.  You will then need to book the Prep to Senior shuttle bus first, and then the onward/ return journey to ensure there is a space on the PM shuttle bus. St Erth pupils – when booking the outbound service please book the Senior St Erth route.

AM Service:

Newquay – AM pupils will change at Daisy Fays onto the St Erth Prep minibus.

Wadebridge – AM pupils will change at St Clements onto a Prep shuttle minibus

Rosudgeon – AM pupils will change at Penryn Campus onto the Prep shuttle minibus. If booking just for the Penryn Campus to Prep please book this on the Rosudgeon route (whilst it says destination St Clements – the shuttle bus driver will know to board them onto the Prep shuttle minibus.

St Erth – AM pupils you will need to book on the St Erth Prep bus

If I book ad-hoc and want to change a booking can I do this?
Bookings are not transferrable.  Ad-hoc bookings can be made up to an hour before the time of travel and are non-refundable.

If I book to use the bus transport and my child doesn’t travel will I receive a refund?
Bookings are non-refundable.

If I decide to book mid-term, will I be charged for the full term?
No, the Vectare system will calculate the charges to the end of the term.  Your direct debit payment will be taken up to 10 days after the booking – Vectare contact details are shown below if you would like the DD date confirmed.

My child has a friend coming home with them, how can I book them a place on the bus?
Please contact Vectare – contact details shown below.

Can I track my child’s journey?
Yes, on the Vectare app. Your child will be marked as ‘on-board’ when they board the bus and you can track their journey.  For the Wadebridge, Rosudgeon and Newquay routes the tracking for TPS pupils will end when they transfer to a TPS shuttle bus.
