IAPS Netball success

IAPS West Region Netball success

Our annual trip to the impressively well organised and immensely competitive regional tournament resulted in some amazing performances by the players from Truro Prep. Their focus and tenacity to do well in all games resulted in them achieving overall 4th place, out of a possible 26 teams. This means that for the second year in a row Truro Prep will be attending the IAPS National Finals at Roedean School on March 14!

The girls were comfortable winners of their section, playing 7 matches and winning 6 of them with conviction and skill. They then qualified for a first playoff match which they narrowly lost by 1 goal in ‘golden goal time’ which is when the first team to score the next goal wins the game. The score had been at 4 all for the last 2 minutes and then in an intense and nervous moment the opposition popped a goal through the net.

The girls then had to ‘dig very deeply’ to win their next two games in a round robin tournament to secure a place at the Nationals. They drew their first match and then eased through their last game of the day to a comfortable win.

After a very tiring and mentally taxing day (but a wonderfully successful one!),  the presentations took place, with the players receiving   well- deserved medals.

The players need to be congratulated for their skill and team play. They have worked very hard on their ball handling and court movement over the last few months and they are now capable of playing in any position on the court. Many of the other schools and coaches commented on their wonderful style of play.

The playing squad are:

Elizabeth, Libby, Sophie, Ellie, Katy, Nancy, Harriet, Polly and Poppy.
