Hockey Summary – Week Beginning 8 September 2014

Truro School vs Bude

Under 13A, Lost 0:2

A narrow loss for the A team; the score not a true reflection of the game.

Under 13B, Won 2:0

A good start in their first game of the season.

Under 15, Won 3:1

The girls got off to a great start going 1:0 up early on. Whilst still on a high from scoring, the girls lost concentration and conceded to make the score 1:1. After a rest at half time, they re-grouped and set out for another goal, which came mid-way through the second half. This time there was no loss of concentration and the girls pushed hard and got a deserved third goal, from a brilliant deflection which had been worked on in training. A great performance.

Under 12 Millfield Prep School Tournament

Following just two training sessions, the Under 12s coped extremely well playing in a very high level tournament. In their first match they beat The Downs 3:0 with goals from Erin and Elinor (2). Second up Wellington, resulting in a 1:0 win, with Madi the scorer. With the two hardest matches to follow, the Under 12s played Queens. Jess was again on fire in goal, it was end to end and very close, with Queens scoring in the closing minutes.

The next match was Millfield; once more a very close affair with Truro holding their own against a well-established side, with the final result 0:1. The final game was against Blundells. The girls were tired and clung on well but could not capitalise on the possession, losing 0:1 to a break-away goal. An excellent first tournament for a very talented and delightful group of girls.

Under 13 Blundells Tournament

At the weekend the team made good progress throughout the tournament registering one win, two draws and three losses. The quality of play improved dramatically and so many of the results could have gone the other way. The star players were Beth in goal and Daisy in the heart of the midfield.
