Hockey Summary – Week Beginning 3 February 2014

Girls Hockey

The U16 Girls Hockey team progressed from the pool stages of the PSP Competition in empathic style beating Camborne 11:0. They played with great confidence, moving the ball well and finishing chances sharply. They move into the finals as the only unbeaten team in the pool, scoring a total of 21 goals and conceding just 1. An impressive set of match statistics.

U14 Boys’ Caradon League

The U14 boys won three matches against Bodmin, Truro Junior Hockey Club and Liskeard, but lost against Penzance and Caradon. They are currently top of the leader board with two more Sundays coming up to hopefully retain the title.

U14 Boys’ County Tournament

The boys started off slowly having not practised as an 11-a-side team – drawing with Liskeard and beating Richard Lander 3:0. They played the semi-final against Humphrey Davy School winning 2:0 working so much better as a team, passing well and holding possession. Back to back matches in terrible weather conditions ended in a draw in the final against Liskeard. Extra time ended in a last minute goal from Liskeard resulting in us becoming runners-up. We qualify for regionals in February. Well done boys.

Boys 1st XI

Truro School hosted Wellsway School on Friday night, and lost a physical encounter 1:0. For many it was the first game of the term, and it certainly took the team some time to find their touch. The performance improved in the second half; the play was more fluent, which resulted in a number of goal scoring opportunities.
