Hockey Summary – Week Beginning 17 November

Under 12A vs Prep School

As always, and understandably so, the girls (and I) were nervous and anxious to face the Prep School. The first goal, five minutes in, saw our younger peers go 1 goal up and this lead was successfully held for a good ten minutes.

Our girls had to work hard to try and settle the score but the Prep School did not give in easily. Their goalkeeper was strong and seemingly fearless, the Under 12s had to fight and earn each and every goal; it was great to see the hockey talent on show from both teams. At half time we had found our feet and were 3-1 up, and the end result was 11-1 to the Senior School. The result does not reflect the ability and strength of the Prep School side however, and we would like to thank both Millie and Ellie for stepping into our squad to fill in the gaps.

Under 12B vs Prep School

The Under 12Bs had a successful fixture against the Prep School. All the girls worked together well, and the goals were the result of an incredible team effort. Madi, Franny and Zoe did some amazing passing up the front, and Jess and Lucy were tireless defenders. Huge thank you to Izzy for trying out in goal; she did an amazing job and stayed calm whenever the ball was coming towards her. As individuals, the girls played the best that I have ever seen them play, resulting in a 10-0 win at full time. It was good to see the girls working hard and having a lot of fun too!

Under 12 vs Bodmin

The Under 12s continued in their quest to finish the season unbeaten when they beat Bodmin College this week. The girls played remarkably well against an older side of boys and girls to come away as 4-1 winners. It was great to see Franny back in action having broken her arm earlier in the season and Jess, who has played outfield in the last two fixtures, enjoyed a return to goalkeeper.
