Hockey Summary – Week Beginning 13 January 2014

Girls Hockey

The U16 Girls hockey team enjoyed a successful week of competition. They were crowned County Indoor Champions, beating Truro High for the title, on goal difference. The following day they dominated play against Penryn College in the PSP league, but were unable to convert their chances, and drew the match 1:1.

Boys Hockey

The boys took on Kelly College in a rain affected block fixture. Unfortunately, the 1st XI and U14 matches had to be cancelled due to flooding. The remaining games were high scoring affairs, which produced some exciting hockey to reward the spectators who had braved the wintery conditions.

The results were:

U16 Boys won 6:0

U15 Boys won 8:4

U13 Boys lost 3:8. The team started off well with enthusiasm, but sadly were outgunned from the start and lost confidence. Despite trailing 5:1 at half time, the team rallied in the second and made it a tighter affair. Key players were Oscar and Will, with some great saves by Lloyd in goal.

U12 Boys lost 4:5. The team ended the first half 3:1 up, but unfortunately in the second the structure fell apart and we were overtaken. The player of the match, Ollie F initiated most of the offensive play, and he was ably supported by Ollie R.
