Hockey Match Report – Under 13s v West Buckland

The Under 13’s hosted West Buckland on Saturday. The girls, on this last Saturday of the long Autumn term, wanted to finish on a high and they started the game determinedly. A quick goal from Milly followed by two fantastic pieces of team work saw the score 3-1 at half time. With a squad of eight, rotation was possible and the girls were able to really push themselves knowing a rest might be coming. Laura played some sensational hockey in the middle of the field, the defence of Amy, Elena and Franny were solid and the team created many a chance in the second half. Elinor and Rosie utilised the wings well and the girls really showed just how strong they are going forward. The goals continued to roll in but the girls had to work hard to defend the West Buckland breaks. Jess pulled out a number of key saves in goal. The final score was 7-2 and the girls have again impressed me beyond belief this term.
After a well deserved Christmas break we will regroup for some lunchtime practices and Thursday after school PSSP fixtures. We are in with a shot at retaining the County Champions title too but the girls will have to work hard in training before then.
