Great to be back and a Happy New Year to all.

It is always exciting to return after a break to find out what is different or what has changed. It is also satisfying to be able to respond in a positive way when the pupils ask for something. Hence it is with some pleasure that I returned from my break to find a new fence in the playground that helps to create a quiet area for pupils who do not want to participate in the ball games or chase games that are going on in the rest of the playground areas. With the benches and tables consolidated into that area, it has fulfilled the request made during last term by the pupil council for a quiet area. Parents who collect pupils from the school at the end of the day will also, I hope, be pleased to know that they can now wait for their children in this area, well away from parking cars.

Another exciting development is the area outside the new Dining Hall extension, where the landscaping is close to completion and the tables and benches are beginning to arrive. Although, given the recent weather it is hard to imagine right now, this will, when the weather improves, be a really nice area for pupils to eat their lunch outside; I can’t wait to join them!

The pupils have returned to school today in good heart and it has been a real pleasure welcoming them back. We have a busy term ahead with lots of fantastic events coming up and, of course, a lot of hard work to do. I am delighted and impressed with the very positive start; long may it continue.
