Headmaster’s Blog – Tuesday 5 August 2014

It’s wonderful news that the Chapter of Truro Cathedral has chosen Truro School to be partners in the creation of a girls’ chorister programme. It represents an exciting next phase in the development of both of our music strategies. If you’ve ever been to the Cathedral to listen to the existing Cathedral Choir of eighteen boy choristers and twelve gentlemen, you will know just how sublime they are. I am already heady with anticipation as we seek through this partnership to create one of the finest group of girl choristers (aged 13-18) in the land. There is much planning and recruiting to be done over the coming year.

We anticipate that girl choristers will be recruited both locally and from further afield, and having recently opened Poltisco as a new girls’ boarding house we look forward to showing off this lovely new space to prospective choristers who may want to board. Given the in-house talent of Truro School girls who already sing like nightingales, I would not be surprised to see choristers selected from their ranks. Details of the Chorister Scholarship Programme can be found here.

The press is beginning to write about the forthcoming publication of this year’s summer exam results. No doubt, I’ll be blogging about this next week.
