Something very special happened in Exeter on Friday 16 May. Mrs Renshaw and I took 13 of our most able musicians to the Cathedral to take part in a joint Prep Schools’ Concert, led by the famous folk musician, Steve Knightly.
With 180 pupils in total from 12 schools, from Taunton down to Truro, and accompanied by some of the best folk musicians in the country, the children gave a performance that was both brilliant and moving. Together, they performed a cycle of songs entitled Songs for all Seasons that was developed in workshops led by Steve in each of the schools over the last few months, before bringing all the pupils together at the cathedral for the concert. Well done to all involved; it was very special and I hope the parents who came enjoyed the concert as much as I did.
The pupils are busy doing their exams, Year 6 are having a fabulous time in Paris, having arrived safely yesterday, and the half-term break approaches rapidly. Although a period of superb summer weather appears to have been broken by some rain today, I live in hope that it will return shortly in time for the holiday.
