Headmaster’s Blog – Friday 7 March 2014

Goodness me what a busy time we’re having.

There was the Year 4 Swimming Gala on Monday afternoon; well done to Ollie (victor ludorum) and Emily (vitrix ludorum).

We had the excitement on Tuesday of the now annual tradition of the Headmaster making pancakes in Pre-Prep Assembly. The pupils sing There’s a Pancake on the Ceiling and then my challenge is to try to avoid that as I toss up my culinary creation. Happy to say no pancakes were lost other than to hungry mouths; topping of choice appeared to be Nutella (although other toppings were available).

On Wednesday we hosted the Quiz Club area heat with teams from four other local schools joining us for this exciting annual competition. Well done to our two teams for taking part and coming 3rd and 5th overall.

We have had a number of badminton teams going out to local sport partnership events this week with our older pupils achieving gold medals in both the singles and doubles events. and our juniors winning their competition (based on skills rather than games) as well.

At the same time we have had trips to BBC Radio Cornwall, RE trips to the Methodist Church, pupils parading for St. Piran’s Day on Wednesday in Truro – the Cornish flag was flying!

Today (Friday) is World Book Day (with all the Pre-Prep dressed up as characters) and the Waterstone’s Book Fair, with presentations to parents about the importance of reading by myself and Mrs Hudson. If you missed these, you can see them in flipbook form using the link below and you’ll understand what a frenetic time we have all had.

And then just as we thought it couldn’t get any more exciting, our U11 girls’ netball team played brilliantly at the IAPS South West regional tournament at Millfield to come third overall and have now qualified for the national finals next weekend at Roedean School.

What an amazing week!
