The young entrepreneurs of the Enterprise Club have been busy making marmalade over the last few weeks for their company, Breads and Spreads. They have made two types; four fruit marmalade made from Seville oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit and a ginger and four fruit marmalade.
The marmalades, along with lemon curd and bread will be on sale next week on Thursday afternoon between 3.30pm and 4pm in the Prep playground from a stall that the pupils will set up and manage.
Part of the process the pupils have had to go through in setting up their company, Breads and Spreads, is to produce the memorandum and articles by which the company is run. Whilst the aim of the company is to cover their costs and to make a profit, once the company has generated enough cash to become self-sustaining, any surplus will be donated to charity following the company’s AGM in September. The charities nominated this year are: Penhaligon’s Friends, Shelterbox and Candle Lighters.
Looking Ahead to Next Week
Next week we also welcome Waterstones for the Book Fair and World Book Day. They will be setting up and running the fair in the Pre-Prep Hall. This is a tremendous opportunity for you and your children to visit Waterstones without the need to travel into town. There’s something for everyone with all the books chosen by Mrs Lovett, and the commission the school receives is used to help restock the school library; so in the end the children benefit twice.
We are also looking forward to welcoming Fulham Prep to the school tomorrow for their annual tour match with the Under 10s rugby team.
