On Friday 1 May, the Friends of Truro School (FTS) hosted a Barn Dance for Truro School families, Truro Prep families and staff. It was the perfect opportunity for the School to let its hair down prior to the busy exam season.
Andrew MacQuarrie (Deputy Headmaster of Truro Prep) led a band of talented musicians, accompanied by pupils from both the Prep and Senior Schools, playing traditional lively country music.
Under the guidance of our excellent caller, the Prep School’s Mr Hobson, the children kept spinning in the right direction and the adults just about dancing in time. The feast of hog roast (and veggie sausages!), complete with apple sauce and stuffing, was necessary fuel for the second half and a much appreciated pause between promenading and whirling between the dining hall pillars.
Thank you all for making the evening such a wonderful event, including the FTS Committee and helpers for decorating the hall, the catering department for putting with the upheaval and the band for providing such superb music. A great example of the FTS bringing together the wider parent and School staff communities.
The evening was such a success that the FTS committee are planning a Burns Night in January. Dig out those kilts and watch this space!
