1st XI vs Falmouth School
Truro School 1st XI went into their penultimate game against Falmouth School knowing a win would secure the County League. After a nervy 10 minutes Falmouth deservedly took the lead with a well worked goal. Truro responded and pressed hard for the equaliser. Toby Robinson brought the tie level with an exquisite lob from 8 yards. It was Toby again who’s great first touch I the box caused a Falmouth defender to bring him down. Toby clinically despatch the penalty kick to put Truro 2.1 up at half-time.
Playing against a strong wind Truro found themselves needing to defend a little deeper. This caused some desperate defending but it didn’t stop Falmouth equalising. However, Truro responded immediately with another Robinson goal. Truro finally secured their first Senior County trophy when Robinson left his best finish to last. A left football chip from 18 yards, leaving the Falmouth keeper stranded.
Head of Football Glynn Hooper was full of praise for his squad and said:
“This group of players have been a pleasure to work with. They have shown great attitudes and commitment and thoroughly deserved to win the league. They remained unbeaten in the league which makes them worthy winners”.
