The latest Under 17 European circuit event tour took our fencers to Meylan, France. Seven Truro School fencers made up the men’s and women’s GB sabre teams.
Bertie Holdsworth had a very positive start taking one of the highest seedings out of the first round but eventually he finished in 34th position with much promise of more to come. In the women’s event, all our fencers made it safely out of the poole rounds. Lily Wood had a shaky start leaving herself a tough first elimination fight, finishing in 83rd place. Keely Rodda competed in her first international and gained lots of experience ending the day in 80th. Molly Wood did herself justice finishing in a solid 64th place, in her first international.
Seasoned travellers Jenna Bray and Caiti Maxwell were left flying the flag. Whilst Jenna finished in 39th, Caitlin Maxwell continued her strong run of form with another international podium place, this time taking the silver. Her recent successes have also returned her to the top spot in the Under 17 European sabre rankings.
