Fencing Report: 12 September 2018

After a busy pre-season training in both Cornwall and Italy our fencers set off for the start of the 2018-19 season ready to take on the opposition in the season ahead. Our first event took in the British Championships. In the Under 17 girls’ sabre Lexie Craze finished in a fantastic 7th place, competing years under the age category. Likewise in the Under 17 boys’ sabre Darcy Holdsworth finished in 5th place, again competing years under the age category, along with Roman Norris in 9th and Max Cromie in 20th and Sam Cox in 38th.  New joiners to the school Henry Martin and Amari Lawal showed real determination when competing at this level and we are excited to see them progress as the season continues.

In the Under 20 girls’ epee we were delighted by Daisy Boyes-Hunter’s 43rd place finish and in the Under 20 girls’ sabre Maia Fashokun finished in a strong 7th place with Hannah O’Reilly in 13th and Molly Wood in 14th. In the Under 20 boys’ sabre Darcy continued is fine form into the second day finishing in 8th place. Luke Haynes took 14th position.
