Last week at Kingsbridge, Megan Hodges and Nini Gigani tenaciously defended their watertight model for the recall of erring politicians and, as a consequence, are now through to the South West area final of the ESU Mace debating Competition.
What is the ESU Mace Debating Competition
Running since 1957, the ESU Mace Debating Competition is where teams of two students are challenged in areas such as public speaking, quick thinking, knowledge of current affairs and speech writing. As part of the National Debating Championship for Schools in England, the competition is the oldest national debating contest in the UK.
The next stage of the ESU Mace is set to take place in Bristol at the end of February.
