Cross Country Update- October 2017

Cross Country Teams Through to The Regionals

Four of our cross country teams travelled up to Stover School, Devon, on 6th October for the first round of the ESAA Cross Country Cup.  Stover School set up a great course through a mix of woods, school fields and moorland.  With the top three teams in each category going through to the regionals, and the summer-like conditions, some exciting races were expected.

In the Junior Boy’s and Junior Girl’s races, the school came up against some tough opposition but managed a very creditable 7th out of 14 teams in the boy’s race.  The highlight of these races being Ted’s fine 3rd place overall out of 80 runners whilst Anya led the Girl’s team home.

The Inter Boy’s and Inter Girl’s teams excelled in their races with the Inter Girl’s being placed 2nd out of 12 teams and the Inter Boys coming in 3rd out of 12.   Izzie (4th out of 56), Millie (11th), Anna (12th) and Ayla (19th) were the scoring runners for the Inter Girls.  Benjy (2nd out of 66), Isaac (7th), Sam (10th) and Lenny were the scoring runners for the Inter Boys.  This is the sixth consecutive year that we have had teams qualify for the regional finals and we wish both teams the best of luck at Leweston School in November.

British Athletics Cross Challenge, Cardiff

Three of our cross country runners (Alexander, Benjy, Isaac) competed at Cardiff over the weekend in the British Athletics Cross Challenge Series.  The races attract some of the best runners from across Great Britain and they all put in good performances.  Benjy and Isaac were placed 16th and 31st respectively in the U15 Boy’s race and Alexander was 36th in the U17 Men’s race.
