Cross Country Championships 2014

Individual and Team Success for Truro School at the Cornwall Schools Cross Country Championships 2014.

On Saturday 18 January, 51 Truro School pupils took part in the Cornwall Schools Cross Country Championships held at Truro School. The athletes performed in very demanding conditions following several days of heavy rainfall.

Five pupils won individual trophies for finishing in the top three in their race.

Scarlett was placed 3rd in the Year 7 Girls race and Harris won the Year 7 Boys race, with his brother Elliot very close behind in 2nd.

Emily was 3rd in the Junior Girls, whilst Finn was outstanding as he won the Junior Boys race – although a year young.

In the Year 7 Girls race, the team of Scarlett, Freya, Lily and Daisy received medals for their excellent 1st place in the team event.

In the Year 7 Boys race, the team of Harris, Elliot, George and Tom ran brilliantly to become County Team Champions.

In the Junior Girls race, the team of Emily, Lily. P, Natsha and Lily. W were placed 3rd.

The Junior Boys team of Finn, Alex, Ben and Bertie were crowned county champions, whilst the Intermediate Boys team of Jamie, Jonny and Jordan faced the challenging 6km course, finishing in a creditable 3rd place.

10 pupils have qualified to represent Cornwall at the South West finals in February. They are Scarlett, Freya, Lily, Daisy, Harrris, Elliot, George, Emily, Finn, Alex and Molly.

Our congratulations go to all 51 runners for their efforts in demanding conditions on the day.
