On 23 February, the Under 13 Boys’ played a round robin tournament at Penair School. Over the course of the afternoon, the boys played 8 other teams in short 10 minute – one way matches. It was excellent for the team to have the opportunity to play such a range of different schools. The standard of hockey was very high and the team did incredibly well, only losing against the top two teams in the tournament – Launceston [0-3] and Mounts Bay [1-2]. The boys won against Penair School [2-0], Cape Cornwall [1-0] and Liskeard B Team [3-0] and drew against Wadebridge [1-1], Liskeard A [0-0] and Penrice [0-0]. The boys worked incredibly well as a team showing some of the best leadership and teamwork skills that I have seen from them all season. Although it was a long tournament, and by the end they were very tired, the boys kept their spirits high ensuring that their last match of the tournament against Cape Cornwall was a success. As only the top team made it through to the next round, the Boys were not successful in getting to the next stage. However, they have proved that they are a team full of talent ready to take on the challenges of 11-a-side hockey next year.
