Boy Choristers perform on the Isles of Scilly

Truro Cathedral Choir recently went on a tour to the Isles of Scilly.

Truro School’s boy choristers have recently been on a short tour with Truro Cathedral Choir to the Isles of Scilly.

After a very rough and gruelling voyage on the Scillonian (with many regretting having a bacon butty for breakfast!) the choir made it to St Mary’s. The boys settled quickly into their accommodation at Mundesley Boarding House before heading for their first rehearsal. The choir took another choppy boat ride to St Martin’s where the weather luckily brightened and they sang a concert in the church. It was hugely enjoyed by the audience who also got to hear from the youngest chorister, Year 3 student Kes, who sang a solo in Can You Feel the Love Tonight. After various activities on the beach and around the island, the choir then headed back to St Mary’s where they sang Evensong.

The next day they enjoyed some free time on the beautiful beaches before singing a final concert to a packed church. Highlights included Allergi’s Miserere with Year 6 student Ted rising effortlessly to the famous top C’s.

Despite the weather being tempestuous, the boys had a brilliant time and sang fantastically.
