Another great week in Trennick House. The boys have really settled well into the routines of school and ‘home’ life. The returning boarders have made our new boys feel really welcome and it’s such a pleasure to see the boys mixing with friends from all around the world. This week we welcomed Jae Heon from Korea who will stay with us for a few months and he was immediately integrated into the fold.
Some of our Sixth Form boys have had the amazing opportunity of visiting the Minack Theatre this week – an outdoor theatre carved into the rock and looking out to the Atlantic near Land’s End. The drama students went to see The Crucible on Tuesday and then the English and Art A level students went for an overnight trip on Friday. The boys came back quite overwhelmed by watching the sun set as a backdrop to this unique theatrical experience. They also visited the Camera Obscura and enjoyed the opportunity of being away on a residential trip.
Saturday night lived up to expectations with pizza and film night. It was lovely to see the boys all enjoying some relaxing time together, chatting and sharing.
We had a fantastic day on Sunday as we took to the beach for the first time in a trip with the whole boarding community. We went over to Perranporth, one of our nearest surf beaches and a beautiful and enormous expanse of sand and sea. The afternoon started with a mass game of beach football – hotly contested of course! A number of boys then ventured into the sea for a surf lesson. There was an impressive amount of standing up and looking cool going on and they all emerged after two hours looking thoroughly exhilarated – Mr. Copeland looked a bit cold! There was fish and chips, ice creams and even the weather was kind to us so all in all, a great Cornish beach experience.
We had a quiet Sunday night; a good meal, finishing off prep and getting ready for the week ahead.
