It was lovely to see three Trennick boys selected to represent the school rugby team at the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens tournament.
This is a prestigious event, involving over 100 teams. Alfie, Ollie, and Callum all gave their all as the team secured a win, a draw and two narrow losses. All three of these boys are in the Lower Sixth and will hopefully get another opportunity to play next year.
Ollie has certainly had a busy week as he spent the weekend camping on Dartmoor for his Duke of Edinburgh Award. He returned on Sunday, tired but proud of his achievement. Saturday once again saw some of the boys play board games in the common room – this seems to be a regular “club” and I have been impressed with the good humour and socialising that goes with it. Alec, Cyrus and Ayobami took delivery of the food for the weekend and chef Alec, as always, ensured that the boys were kept busy with pizza and chicken!
Saturday night saw Callum attend the Rugby Gala dinner – celebrating rugby at Truro School through the ages, he looked very dapper in his black tie attire. Callum attended the dinner with his dad, himself a former pupil.
The changing of the clocks meant less lie in than normal for everyone on Sunday, however everyone made it to brunch and filled up read for the day ahead. The activity this weekend was 10 pin bowling with Sammy achieving an impressive 110 points, more than 10 points clear of everyone else. There were some interesting styles and techniques, with Alfie managing to hit his own ankle! After the bowling we enjoyed the sunshine and strolled across town to Starbucks, with everybody enjoying a drink.
It has been a lovely weekend – the weather is truly spring like – hard to believe the difference from Monday’s snow! We wish all the boys safe travel as they return for the Easter break, I am sure the 5th years and Upper Sixth will be revising hard.
