Junior Girls' Boarding Update – 26 September

It was a reasonably quiet week for the girls in Pentreve, however it was all change in the house on Friday night. We welcomed, from the first and second years respectively, Milli and Madi to the house for the evening as both girls were taking part in regional hockey trials and matches on Friday night and Saturday morning. Lucy, in the first year and normally a weekly boarder, also decided to stay for the weekend as the prospect of missing out on horse riding on Sunday was all too much! Helena visited the Minack with her friend and Amy left the house to spend the weekend with her family. Lena and Caroline went on their first outing with the Senior boys to the local bowling alley and although they did not come back with a win, the boys did say that that they were ‘quite good’!

The girls spent most of Saturday either in the gym or wandering around the Cornwall Food Festival in town, sampling the delights of the local Cornish produce on offer, whilst dodging the frequent torrential downpours!

On Saturday evening a pizza and DVD evening was planned for both the Senior and Junior girls. Anson, Cherry, Tung and Stephanie joined the Malvern girls whereas Helena, Victoria, Lucy and Anne stayed in Pentreve and revisited their childhood by watching Tangled! After an impressive amount of pizza the girls decided that they could squeeze in a ‘little’ bit of ice cream and had great fun bashing up Smarties and Maltesers for extra toppings.

On Sunday we woke to a glorious morning that was very different to the previous day’s weather. All the girls were very excited about horse riding and prayed that the weather would hold for the afternoon. While Mrs Murphy and Lucy went off cantering the rest of the girls prepared themselves for a steady trot! The route took us through the heart of the Cornish countryside in an area of outstanding natural beauty steeped in the history of seafaring and tin mining. At the end of the trek the girls gracefully dismounted their ponies, well most of them, and hoped that the little tinges of pain would quickly disappear!

As I finish my blog the girls are working hard in the house completing their prep and will soon be making their way up the stairs to get themselves ready for the busy week ahead! I am sure that after all of the fresh air today they will be off to sleep very quickly!

Make sure you log in for Mrs Mulready’s blog next weekend…it is a make-up session or a boat trip I believe.
