Junior Boys' Boarding Blog: 24 September

Most of the boys made use of the games room during the evening. We also welcomed some of the Pentreve boarders who came to visit.

On Saturday Ben and Owen were in action on the rugby field against Mount Kelly. Both boys played well, with Truro winning the game on a very wet and rainy day.

During the late morning and afternoon the boys made use of the gym and facilities in the SBA sports centre. After supper the boys stayed in to play some team based action games on their devices. This was before movies and pizzas.

Early on Sunday morning Amari and Henry left to compete in a fencing competition in London, we wish both boys good luck. They will return later in the evening after a 500 mile round trip. The rest of the boarders headed to Trelissick for the day. The afternoon outing is a particular favourite of mine with my family and I having spent many hours walking our dogs around the stunning scenery on the South coast footpaths and woods of Trelissick.

We walked down the main path stopping for a photo opportunity of one of the most beautiful views in Cornwall that looks over Falmouth, with Pendennis and St Mawes Castle in the background. We then continued to the beach to spend some time skimming stones, only to be watched by a seal that was about 10 metres from the shore. The seal seemed to be perplexed by all 45 boarders throwing stones into the sea. We followed the footpath up to the ‘Big House’ and had a traditional Cornish cream tea, jam first of course!

It was a very ‘Cornish’ Sunday – ‘Onen hag oll’.
