Junior Boys’ Boarding Blog: 19 May 2019

Poltisco Blog 19th May 2019

Dear Parents and guardians

It has been a really great weekend in the boarding house. Good luck to Henry who left to compete in a fencing competition. A new experience for Roland who has spent the night under canvas in the beautiful Cornish sea side town of Padstow on his Duke of Edinburgh challenge. With the other boys making the most of their time.

On Saturday the boys teamed up with the junior girls house to take advantage of some cookery lessons in the schools’ Leiths Cookery School. All pupils prepared some food for a summer picnic.

The pupils started with some great looking layered salad, flavoured with chorizo and herbs, and cheeses. Also on the menu were some homemade style sausage rolls with apple and herbs, they also created some tear and share bread with olives, chorizo and herbs. To finish, some toffee marshmallow rice crispy cakes.

After supper the junior houses competed in a quiz. The boys and girls battled it out in rounds of famous movie clips, general knowledge, James Bond and chocolate.

It was nip and tuck all the way through and after 90 possible points it finally came down to a victory margin of just 2 points. Congratulations to the Pentreve girls who took the honours.

On Sunday afternoon the boys were taken into town to have some fantastic ice cream in the Gelato ice cream bar. This was very well received.

Enjoy some of the pictures from this weekend, especially the picnic food.
