Another Successful Week for Truro Prep Netball

The U11 Year 6 Netball Squad have had a taxing and rewarding week of netball.

At the weekend, the long haul travel to Roedene, Brighton, saw the players compete in the National IAPS Finals. They are the first ever Cornish school to compete at such a prestigious event.

The day started well, with sunshine peeking through the sea mist. The standard of play across all eight courts was of a very high level and the Prep players had to battle hard in every one of their seven matches.

The flair and creativity of the prep court play raised concerns for some of their opposition and on many occasions the majority of the play was with the Prep team. The killing blow in some of the games was a long overhead pass by the opposition over our rather shorter team, but this never deterred the Prep girls and they battled up to the very end.

They finished a creditable 6th in their section, although equal 5th on points gained, but 6th on the goal difference.

It was a great weekend of netball at a very high level. Well done to all of the players.

High Five Netball Peninsular Finals

19 March 2014

So, after a busy weekend the players travelled to the finals of the H5 event playing a game that is very different in structure and speed.

H5 is the recommended game for U11 players and involves all players playing every position on the court, thus it is tactically very demanding and the players all have to be able to shoot!

First Round Vs

Mawnan Won 9:0

Grad Ruan Won 15:0

Roskear Won 14:0

St Marys Won 18:0

Crowan Won 12:1

Semi Final Vs

Mylor Won 6:3

Final Vs

Truro High won 7-2

The skill level of the prep girls was outstanding, and they won all of their games convincingly. Their faith and belief in one another on the court was commendable and they had a clear focus that they were going to win the overall event – which they did in style!

They have now qualified for the County Finals that will be staged on June 27 2014.
