Year 5 pupils create stop-frame animations

This term, pupils in Year 5 Friday afternoon activities produced short films using stop-frame animation techniques and a lot of Lego.

Working in pairs, the children discussed and story-boarded ideas before planning scenes using models of buildings and characters from Star Wars, Ghostbusters, medieval castles and Harry Potter.

Then, over three weeks, each group animated the scenes by carefully lighting table top sets  and snapping hundreds and hundreds of still images.

Using Microsoft Movie Maker, each team put together their movies, frame by frame, and sourced appropriate Creative Commons music to add atmosphere and drama.

The films will be shown in an assembly for Years 5 & 6 next term.
