The boys were drawn with Bude, Liskeard and Bodmin in there pool. They played Liskeard in their first game, the last time they played these they had lost so they had something to prove, they man-marked the key player out the game so he didn’t get a look in. They won the game 3-1 which they were extremely pleased with and hoping there next two games weren’t going to be as challenging but the game was a great warm-up.
With a good warm up before each game the boys were ready to face whatever was thrown at them, the next two games saw them working well as a team, there effort and work rate was going through the roof, all 50/50 balls were Truro School’s and they made sure they were going to get the result and top the group. We beat Bodmin 6-0 and Bude 6-0, the boys were up for the next challenge.
Going up to Penair for the finals, we knew we had a tough challenge ahead whoever our opposition was, we were drawn to Humphy Davey school. We played in the first Semi-final where we battled and fought for everything, even after going a goal down and a goal being disallowed for us, the boys came back and brought the score back to 2-1 where the game ended.
We had one final hurdle, Penair in the final. The final consisted of some text book hockey including set-plays and amazing 3D skills were shown off from both teams, the game got very feisty and each team battled to win every ball, no one was giving up. The game was end to end, it was like a tennis game back and forth but finally in the last 2 minutes Penair caught us on the break and wasn’t going to miss this opportunity, 1-0 Penair the final score.
The boys worked extremely hard through the day and will still go onto represent Cornwall at the Regionals at the beginning of February. Well Done Boys, great achievement!
