Under 13 Boys’ take 2nd Place at Aegon Tennis Tournament

Four talented boys went to compete at the tournament at Newquay Tretherras School on Wednesday 7th June. The tournament consisted of playing both singles and doubles. Truro had games that were back to back which consisted of nearly 3 hours of non-stop tennis so they were extremely tired. The tennis was of a high standard from all three schools, any team could of walked away winning the tournament. Our boys played the majority of their tennis from beyond the back line and had a number of long, hard fought rallies. The boys thought about the shots they played, what would challenge their opponent? What would be the most effective shot? They worked well as a team when they played doubles, supporting each other with encouragement as well as thinking about who would be most effective taking that shot. When they played as individuals they gave their opponent a good battle and didn’t give any point away easily. The boys did make some unforced errors throughout the day but a lot of that was due to the weather conditions. Overall the boys put on a fantastic performance and lost out coming on top by 1 point.

Well Done boys!
