U12 Hockey V Duchy – 2nd October 2016

The second fixture of the season saw us host Duchy this Sunday.

The weather was glorious and the girls, having won the toss, cleverly opted to shoot away from the suns glare in the first half. Whilst it was the second fixture for most of the team, we also welcomed Layla to the fold this week. The team, captained by Evelyn, have been focusing on space in training this week, with particular emphasis on creating space, holding their positions and using the width of the pitch. The girls worked hard to implement this into the game situation and they were really successful in doing so. Heidi opened the scoring early on and a beautifully injected and then perfectly struck hit for the first short corner saw Evelyn’s name on the score card.

Two further goals, again from Heidi and Evelyn respectively, before the half time whistle meant we were 4-0 ahead at the break. The second half was just as eventful in terms of goals with Evelyn adding two more, Heidi was determined to add to her two goals scored in the first half and although a number of opportunities were fired slightly wide she did add one more to put the final score at 7-0. Player of the match, awarded by the other team was given to Evelyn.
