Senior Boys’ Boarding Update – 11 September

After the first full week of term a fun packed weekend lay ahead for the Trennick boys.

On Sunday morning the schools junior rugby teams played a block fixture against Ivybridge College. It was pleasing to see boys from the boarding houses out in support of the various school teams.

During the afternoon one of the most popular fixtures of the year took place. The annual Former pupil’s rugby and hockey games. There were several hundred spectators present watching the action. A number of the new boarders had not seen a live rugby game before and they could not have wishes for a better one to cut their teeth on. A closely fought contest saw a physical encounter with school edging ahead in the last quarter and scoring late in the game to win 20 – 7. It was great to see some Trennick Alumni playing for the former pupils.

During Saturday evening the boys had requested to have some pizzas. I happily obliged supplying seven pizzas of various types. They quickly disappeared!

Also on the subject of food there were some amazing smells coming from the boarders’ kitchen as most of the Chinese boys held a banquet. As can be seen in the photograph there was a vast array of food on offer.
Thank you to Andrey who cooked some food during the afternoon including some mini pasties.

On Sunday we all wished happy 16th birthday to Chris. I hope you enjoyed your cake. Thank you also to Fahed and Jay who also helped Chris celebrate by buying him even more cake.
After Sunday brunch saw the first Trennick outing of the year as all of the boys were taken to Truro bowl. There was a prize for the highest score of the day, fittingly this was a score of 121 by birthday boy and new ‘King Pin’ Chris.

After a traditional roast evening meal the boys have settled down into prep for the evening before getting themselves prepared for the next school week.
