The Sixth Form is part of Truro School, but it has its own identity and separate facilities.
The majority of our 5th Formers (Year 11) stay on for the Sixth Form, but it is also the point of entry for a number of students from other schools.
Currently there are 34 Sixth Form boarders, in two houses - over the next three or four years we aim to increase this number to a maximum of about 60.
Why choose Truro School Sixth?
Academic track record
- A-Level pass-rate over the last 10 years is over 99%
- high-value academic subjects only
- for Grade A + B rates, Truro School usually tops Cornwall
Residential options
- to lengthen the day, to cut travel and broaden your experience, the boarding option (full or flexi) is available
Teachers, not lecturers
- relationships with your teachers will be close and friendly - they’ll take an interest in you outside the classroom as well as in it
- you’ll see your personal tutor every day, and he or she will take a close interest in helping you with problems, monitoring and encouraging your progress
Building a portfolio
- there’s a lot going on in terms of sport, D of E, drama, music etc, with many opportunities for building up credits to make your H.E. or job application stand out from others
Part of a school, but distinct from it
- the Sixth Form has its own areas of the school campus, and its own life
- there are opportunities to be involved in the care of younger pupils and the running of a large and successful secondary school
