The Sixth Form is a transitional phase in your education. We expect you to begin to be more independent in many areas of your lives; your organisation, your thought and your expression, both in and out of the academic spheres. As such we allow a dress code which gives you the scope for self expression within some defined parameters.
The sixth form should be formal, smart and business-like in appearance and, for this reason, variations that detract from this will not be acceptable to us.
The final arbiters of what is and what is not acceptable are your heads of year and the Deputy Heads. The following is to assist you in your choice of dress:
Students should wear well-tailored jackets. (Please note that, for example, denim or casual styles are not acceptable.) We expect jackets to be worn at all times around the school, unless specific permission not to do so has been given.
These should be worn with formal trousers that hold a crease, or a skirt, as an alternative in the case of female students. (Again, please note that, for example, denim is not acceptable, nor are riveted trousers, or mini skirts.)
Shoes should be of a formal nature and suitable to withstand the rigours of school life – not trainers, flip-flops, slouch boots, skate shoes etc.
Male students are expected to wear a formal shirt with a tie. Female students are expected to wear a complementary blouse/top which is modest in nature,(T-shirts, vest tops or conspicuous “logo’s” are not acceptable). Whatever is worn, it must be suitably modest – bare midriffs, cleavage or bare shoulders should not be visible.
Any form of visible body-piercing, except ears but including nose piercings are prohibited, as are visible tattoos.
Games kit in the Sixth Form
P.E. and games are optional in the 6th Form, but those taking part must wear recognised sports kit appropriate to the activity.
All games clothing must be clearly labelled with name tapes.
