Choosing your subject - Music

 

Music Conservatoires

If you are interested in studying Music at one of the following:

  • Birmingham Conservatoire
  • Leeds College of Music
  • Royal College of Music
  • Royal Northern College of Music
  • Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama
  • Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
  • Trinity College of Music

you will now need to apply online through ‘CUKAS’ which stands for Conservatoires UK Admissions Service.

 

There is a website to help guide you through the admissions procedure (similar to the UCAS website) where you can search for courses by instrument or by course type, with links to the conservatoires’ websites, so that you can research your interests even further.

 

It is also the place where you register, and then fill in your form. Once you’ve applied you will be able to check your progress through ‘track’ as you can with UCAS.

 

You can apply to CUKAS and to UCAS in the same year, so you can make up to 11 applications in total.

 

Key dates

You can start to fill in your form from 1st July 2007 and the deadlines thereafter are as follows:

1st October 2007      Closing date for on-time applications

14th October 2007    Auditions start

5th January 2008      Reply to offers by this date

15th April 2008         ‘Extra’ will be available to applicants without offers.
