On Wednesday Josh and Ethan both played well for the school’s 1st XI football team in a 2-0 victory over Truro College. They should both be proud of their performance in defence as the team kept a clean sheet against a talented attacking opposition.
Mr. Lawrence celebrated an important birthday on Thursday morning when the boarders sang happy birthday at breakfast and presented him with an enormous chocolate cake. Mr. Lawrence was until recently the hugely popular Trennick Assistant Housemaster and is now the equally well respected Housemaster of Poltisco. Mr. Lawrence guarded his chocolate cake fiercely and refused to allow any students to eat an unhealthy breakfast. Rumours are that the cake didn’t make it till lunchtime…
The weekend was fairly quiet with no Ten Tors training or sports fixtures. It gave the boys a good opportunity to relax and enjoy the facilities in the house – the kitchen was well used with Joe cooking up a very nice steak. Also well used were the playstations and sky sports. Pizzas and chicken were cooked and delivered to the common room on Saturday evening and it was great to see so many boys in the common room socialising, watching films and playing pool.
On Sunday there was war at the Truro paintball centre. Andrey was a menace having spent time in a Russian military school but even he was surpassed by Mr. Thompson who eagerly invested in several grenades. It was a fantastic afternoon and fun was had by all despite the cold weather.
There was also a meeting of the House Council on Sunday evening. The way in which Darryl, Ethan, Alec, Jay, Hector and Alan discuss various ideas and plans is very impressive and they are learning negotiating, communication and leadership skills. It really is a pleasure to work with them.
