Rounders Match Report: May 2017

Thursday 25 May

Under 12 vs Richard Lander School

Won 17-14 ½

The Under 12’s performed well despite strong winds that made bowling, for both Evie and Caitlin, very challenging. The girls won the toss and chose to field first, conceding nine rounder’s and scoring seven in the first innings. After a half time team talk the girls responded well and were much tighter all round. The bowler, backstop and first post trio of Caitlin, captain Maya, and Ellie worked well and this, together with some excellent covering on the basis, saw the team stump six players out and conceed only five and a half rounders. The girls begun the last batting innings knowing that eight rounder’s would see them win and some excellent, strong and well placed hitting in the final six balls from Evelyn, Caitlin, Joanna and Tegan exceeded this expectation.

Under 13 vs Richard Lander School

Won 10 ½ -10

This was by far the toughest match of the season so far, as Richard Lander were impressive in the field and despite several excellent hits they limited the scoring. In the end some good fielding by Truro School on the posts probably made the difference with several Richard Lander players getting run out at 1st and 2nd which in combination with some quality catches put the batters under pressure.

Under 14 vs Richard Lander School

Won 13 – 6 ½

A challenging game for the Under 14’s, particularly in the first innings. Truro unusually took unnecessary risks and many players got out early in the first innings. Truro fielded well however and kept Richard Lander to 3 rounders. A much better second innings whilst batting; top scorers – Rosie (4), Elinor (2 ½ ), Evie (2 ½ ), Nila (2). Great catches by Elena, Rose and Rosie, with Jess performing throw of the day; with a highly accurate throw from out deep to fourth post earning her player of the match from the opposition.

Another fine performance from the Under 12 team. Well done to all those who represented the school.

Under 13 vs Penair School

Won 24 – 11 ½

The girls put in another impressive batting performance with Lizzy and Milli as the top scorers and Harriet producing some impressive hits off to the right. Libby and Izzie bowled really well but overall the team could have been sharper in the field and need to avoid dropped catches in the next match.

Under 14 vs Penair School

Won 16 ½ – 6

Truro dominated this match. Rosie scoring a massive 6 ½ rounders, Elinor 3 and Zoe 2 ½ . In the field Elinor took 3 great catches, with Rose 1 catch and 1 stump. A great tactical game.
