Willday House Pre-Prep

The Pre-Prep is for pupils from age 3 to age 7 (Nursery to Year 2) and covers the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One.  Pupils are taught in small classes of 16 to 19 in a lovely, light, purpose-built building.  The department is surrounded by its own separate play areas set within the former walled garden of Treliske House.

Great emphasis is placed on fostering an enjoyment for learning through discovery and self-expression; music, dance and drama therefore form an integral part of the curriculum.  Enjoying the benefit of the heated indoor swimming pool, pupils swim at least twice a week and undertake PE in the Sports Hall, increasingly with specialist teachers as they move through the school.

Prior to moving into Year 3, pupils are taught by more of the specialist teachers in subjects such as ICT, music and games.

The school day for pupils in the Pre-Prep is from 8.40am to 3.30pm and parents drop off to and collect their children from the classrooms ensuring a smooth handover.  An after-school club can look after the children up to 5.30pm in the evening for a small charge (currently £1 per quarter hour).
