Textile Design Workshop

The workshop included surface pattern design and textile dyeing techniques to make a large artwork with contributions from all children who took part.

The children looked at circular composition, particularly in art from pre-Columbian Mexico.  They then designed and painted designs onto fabric, using gutta paste and silk paints.

They are also painted simple geometric patterns and experimented with wax resist and dip-dyeing techniques for the background silks.
